The MADRIX® USB ONE is one of the smallest USB interfaces for DMX: a cable with a 5-pin NEUTRIK XLR socket that receives or sends 512 DMX channels. It is powered directly via USB.

What the USB ONE is made for
- Controlling MADRIX 5 remotely via DMX, for example from a lighting console: MADRIX 5 has its own DMX-IN functions for this
- Outputting one DMX universe directly from the computer, without a network, with an additional MADRIX KEY
- Several universes via several devices: according to the manufacturer up to 60 USB ONE on one USB host controller
- Mobile setups: hot swapping and plug and play, no separate power supply
Not suitable for
- DMX output without a licence: according to the manufacturer an additional MADRIX KEY is required
- Larger setups over the network: that is what nodes such as the STELLA, the STELLA 8 or the LUNA are for
- Pixel LEDs directly without a DMX controller: that is what the NEBULA with SPI ports is for
- Passive USB ports: the manufacturer recommends an active USB 2.0 port or a USB 2.0 hub
Important: according to the manufacturer the USB ONE is mainly used as a DMX input. DMX output additionally requires a MADRIX KEY (software licence); matching MADRIX 5 licences are in the software category.

Connection
Up and running in three steps
- Connect. Plug the USB ONE into an active USB 2.0 port or a USB 2.0 hub, no power supply is needed.
- Connect DMX. The DMX cable to the 5-pin XLR socket, from the console (input) or to the fixtures (output) depending on use.
- Set up in MADRIX 5. Use the device in MADRIX 5 as DMX input or, with a MADRIX KEY, as output.
The USB ONE has a 5-pin XLR socket. For 3-pin DMX cables you need an adapter.
