8 DMX universes from Art-Net or sACN, in a 19-inch rack housing

The MADRIX® LUNA 8 converts Art-Net, sACN or USB directly into DMX512 and outputs 8 universes via NEUTRIK XLR sockets, plus one DMX input. The metal housing takes up one rack unit in a 19-inch rack and works without a fan.

What the LUNA is made for

  • Connecting DMX fixtures, dimmers or pixel controllers with DMX input to an Art-Net or sACN network from the rack, 8 universes per device
  • Stage, events and permanent installations: 5-pin XLR sockets, etherCON and mains connection via IEC power cord
  • Operation with MADRIX 5, synchronised across all ports and several devices in sync mode
  • According to the manufacturer also usable as a regular node with other consoles, controllers and software
  • Silent continuous operation: fanless metal housing, power consumption below 5 W

Not suitable for

  • More than 8 universes on one device: then the LUNA 16
  • Setting up and monitoring fixtures via RDM: that is what the STELLA and the STELLA 8 with RDM are for
  • Pixel LEDs directly without a DMX controller: the LUNA outputs DMX, not SPI pixel data; that is what the NEBULA is for
  • DIN rail or outdoor mounting: 19-inch housing rated IP20
Good to know: the LUNA is powered directly with 100–240 V via the IEC inlet, the power cord is included. For operation with MADRIX 5 you need a licence on a MADRIX KEY.

Connection

Up and running in three steps

  1. Install and power. Screw the LUNA into the 19-inch rack and connect it to the mains with the IEC power cord.
  2. Connect DMX. The DMX cables of your fixtures to the 5-pin XLR outputs, the network to the etherCON socket.
  3. Set up. On the web configuration page assign a universe to each port, then send Art-Net or sACN or connect MADRIX 5 via USB.

The LUNA outputs DMX, not SPI pixel data. Pixel LEDs need a DMX-capable pixel controller behind it.

Frequently asked questions

Does the LUNA also work without MADRIX?
Yes. According to the manufacturer it complies with the official protocol specifications and can be used as a regular node with other consoles, controllers and software.
Do I need a power supply?
No. The LUNA is powered directly with 100–240 V AC via the IEC inlet, the power cord is included.
How do LUNA 4, 8 and 16 differ?
In the number of DMX outputs: 4, 8 or 16. The LUNA 16 takes up two rack units instead of one. DMX input, network, USB and functions are the same on all of them.
Which connectors does the LUNA have?
5-pin NEUTRIK XLR for DMX, a NEUTRIK etherCON socket for the network, USB 2.0 type B and an IEC inlet for power.
