300 individually addressable RGB pixels on 5 metres, protected to IP65
This LED pixel strip carries 60 WS2812b LEDs per metre. Every LED has its control chip built in and can be set individually in colour and brightness. The strip runs on 5 volts and is protected to IP65.
Is it right for my project?
What this strip is made for
- Chasers, colour gradients and effects where every LED shows something different
- Outlines, lettering, advertising displays and Christmas lighting
- Indoors and in sheltered outdoor areas (IP65)
- Control with pixel controllers that support WS2812
Not suitable for
- Operation on 12 or 24 volts — the strip is for 5 volts only
- Pure white light for room lighting — white is mixed from red, green and blue here and looks cool
- Use without a controller — the strip needs a data signal
Also required: a 5 V power supply with sufficient power and a pixel controller.

Connection
Up and running in four steps
- Mind the direction. The arrows on the PCB show the data direction (DIN → DO). Connect the controller to the end marked “DIN”.
- Choose the power supply. Allow up to 0.3 W per LED, i.e. up to 90 W (18 A at 5 V) for 5 m, plus about 20 % reserve.
- Inject power. The additional leads are for power injection. At full brightness the voltage drops along the strip — inject power at both ends so the colours do not fade towards the end.
- Switch on. Make all connections first, then switch on the power supply.
Caution: Operate on 5 V only. After cutting, the cut point is no longer protected to IP65.

- Operate only on a 5 V power supply (safety extra-low voltage); choose a supply with about 20 % power reserve.
- Connect or disconnect only with the power switched off.
- Do not use a damaged strip.
- Do not kink the strip or run it over sharp edges; avoid mechanical stress and sources of heat.
- Operating temperature −15 to +60 °C.
- Not a toy — keep out of the reach of children.

Frequently asked questions
Can I shorten the strip?
Yes, at the marked cutting points between the LEDs. The cut end is then open and must be sealed again for outdoor use.
Which controller fits?
Any pixel controller that outputs the WS2812 protocol.
Why does the end get darker or reddish?
At full brightness the voltage drops along the strip. Inject power at both ends and use sufficiently thick supply leads.
