Which MADRIX 5 license do I need?

The license level depends on the number of DMX channels you want to output. Convert your pixels into universes (170 RGB pixels per universe) and choose the smallest level that is enough. Every license is stored on a MADRIX KEY and can later be upgraded to any higher level.

How to choose the level

  1. Count your pixels.
  2. Divide by 170 (RGB) or by 128 (RGBW): that gives the universes.
  3. Choose the smallest level whose universes are enough.

Example: 5,000 RGB pixels ÷ 170 = 30 universes, so basic with 36 universes. How universes get onto the network is explained in the guide Art-Net or sACN?.

MADRIX KEY

Every MADRIX 5 license requires a metal MADRIX KEY on which it is stored. The license comes as an activation file by e-mail. If you do not have a KEY yet, order one with it.

Upgrade or update?

  • Upgrade: from your level to a higher one, for example start to basic. Our range includes every upgrade to every higher level.
  • Update: from MADRIX 2.x or 3.x to MADRIX 5, at the same level.

The preprogrammer license does not output any data. It removes major limitations of the demo mode (according to MADRIX).

Frequently asked questions

Are universes or channels licensed?

Channels. The number of universes in the table is an example with 512 channels per universe.

Can I upgrade later?

Yes. Every level can be upgraded to any higher level.

How long is a license valid?

According to MADRIX, all licenses are valid indefinitely.

Which level for 1,000 pixels?

1,000 RGB pixels ÷ 170 = 6 universes, so entry (12 universes) is enough.
