The MADRIX® AURA 12 records Art-Net or sACN data streams onto an SD card and plays them back stand-alone, with up to 12 universes over the network. Schedule, internal clock and sunrise and sunset timers start the shows automatically.

Is this right for my project?

What the AURA is made for

  • Permanent installations that should light up without a running computer, such as facades, shop windows, retail fit-outs or Christmas lighting
  • Playing shows on a schedule: scheduled playlist, internal clock, sunrise and sunset timers
  • Triggering scenes externally: by HTTP command, via Art-Net/sACN or with the MADRIX ORION for interactive installations
  • Recording an Art-Net or sACN data stream, for example from MADRIX 5
  • Installation in a control cabinet on a 35 mm DIN rail or wall mounting

Not suitable for

  • More than 12 universes: then the AURA 32 or several AURA synchronised in master-slave mode
  • Connecting fixtures or pixels directly: the AURA outputs over the network only, it needs nodes such as the STELLA or the NEBULA behind it
  • Outdoor mounting: the housing is rated IP20
Also required: nodes or controllers that convert Art-Net or sACN into DMX or pixel data, and a source for the show. The manufacturer intends MADRIX 5 as the source; for this you need a licence on a MADRIX KEY.

Connection

Up and running in three steps

  1. Power. 5–24 V DC to the screw terminal or 5 V via USB.
  2. Connect to the network. Put the AURA and the nodes for your fixtures on the same network; with several devices, daisy-chain via the second port.
  3. Record and play back. Record the data stream of your show, then define playlist, schedule or triggers in the web interface.

The AURA outputs Art-Net or sACN. Fixtures and pixels need nodes behind it, for example the STELLA for DMX or the NEBULA for pixels.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a computer during operation?
No. The AURA plays the recorded shows stand-alone from the SD card. You need a computer to create and record the show.
Can the AURA record shows from other software?
According to the manufacturer it records any Art-Net or sACN data stream. As source and content provider MADRIX intends its own software MADRIX 5.
How do AURA 2, 12 and 32 differ?
Only in the number of universes: 2, 12 or 32, i.e. 1,024, 6,144 or 16,384 DMX channels. Housing, connections and functions are the same.
How do I start shows externally?
Via HTTP commands to the built-in web server, via Art-Net/sACN or with the MADRIX ORION, to which you connect buttons and sensors.
