LED Pixel Strings
5 volts or 12 volts?
All pixel strings use 12 mm WS2811 pixels at 10 cm spacing, potted to IP68. The main difference is the voltage: with 12 V, longer runs can be bridged between two power injection points than with 5 V.
5 V · max. 15 W per 50 pixels
5 volts
WS2811 pixel string with 50 pixels, xConnect® or JST-SM connector, black or blue/white/red cable.
12 V · max. 36 W per 50 pixels
12 volts
Standard with 50 or 100 pixels, Regulated for even brightness over longer runs and Square with a square housing and mounting tab.
Which string do I need?
| I have … | … and need |
|---|---|
| short runs and small objects | pixel string 5 V |
| a large object with long string runs | pixel string 12 V |
| long strings whose end should be as bright as the start | 12 V Regulated (guide: resistor or regulated?) |
| several strings to connect or to inject power | connectors, extensions and T-connectors between two strings |
