Eight inputs for sensors, buttons and potentiometers: analogue signals as DMX on the network
The MADRIX® ORION converts analogue signals from 0 to 12 V into 8- or 16-bit DMX and sends them as Art-Net or sACN to the network or via USB to MADRIX 5. This lets light sensors, motion detectors, buttons or knobs control your light show.
Is this right for my project?
What the ORION is made for
- Shows that react to their surroundings: brightness, temperature, motion (PIR)
- Buttons, switches and knobs as simple controls for an installation
- Starting scenes by trigger, for example via contacts on doors or exhibits
- Installation in a control cabinet on a 35 mm DIN rail or wall mounting
Not suitable for
- Controlling pixels or fixtures directly: the ORION only has inputs, no outputs for fixtures
- More than 16 DMX channels from input signals (8 in 16-bit mode)
- Outdoor mounting: the housing is rated IP20
Also required: sensors, buttons or potentiometers for the inputs and a receiver that evaluates Art-Net or sACN. For operation with MADRIX 5 you need a licence on a MADRIX KEY.

Eight inputs, individually configurable

Connection
Up and running in three steps
- Power. 5–24 V DC to the screw terminal or 5 V via USB.
- Connect the inputs. Sensors, buttons or potentiometers to the two 6-pin terminals; V+ and GND are provided there.
- Set up. On the web configuration page choose the mode for each input and define on which DMX channel it goes to the network.

Frequently asked questions
Which signals can the ORION evaluate?
Analogue voltages from 0 to 12 V as well as switching states. Each of the eight inputs can be set as analogue input, digital input or counter.
Does the ORION control fixtures?
No. It only has inputs and sends the measured values to the network as DMX. Fixtures are controlled by your software or console via a node such as NEBULA or STELLA.
Is a MADRIX licence included?
No. For operation with MADRIX 5 you need a MADRIX 5 licence on a MADRIX KEY.
