MADRIX 5 licenses & KEY

Buying guide

Which MADRIX 5 license is right for you?

The tier depends on the number of DMX channels you output. Divide your pixels by 170 (RGB) or 128 (RGBW) to get the universes – and choose the smallest tier that is enough. Every license is stored on a MADRIX KEY. Details in the guide MADRIX 5 licenses explained.

Tier start entry basic professional ultimate maximum
Universes (512 channels each) 2 12 36 132 516 4,104
DMX channels 1,024 6,144 18,432 67,584 264,192 2,101,248
RGB pixels (170 per universe) 340 2,040 6,120 22,440 87,720 697,680
DVI pixels 16,384 262,144 1,048,576 2,097,152 2,097,152 2,097,152
Render resolution 128 × 128 512 × 512 1024 × 1024 2048 × 1024 2048 × 1024 2048 × 1024

According to MADRIX, as of 23 Oct 2026. Channels are licensed, not universes. The preprogrammer license does not output data and is meant for pre-programming.

Scale up

Upgrade to any higher tier

An upgrade extends your MADRIX 5 license on the same KEY. An update brings a MADRIX 2.x or 3.x license to MADRIX 5, in the same tier.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a MADRIX KEY?

Yes. Every MADRIX 5 license is stored on a metal MADRIX KEY; the license itself arrives as an activation file by e-mail. If you do not have a KEY yet, order one with it.

Upgrade or update – what's the difference?

An upgrade lifts MADRIX 5 to a higher tier, for example start to basic. An update brings a MADRIX 2.x or 3.x license to MADRIX 5, in the same tier.

Which tier do I need for 5,000 pixels?

5,000 RGB pixels ÷ 170 = 30 universes, so basic with 36 universes. How the universes get onto the network is explained in the guide Art-Net or sACN?.

Can MADRIX control PixLite controllers?

Yes. MADRIX outputs Art-Net and sACN, and the PixLite controllers accept both – see Advatek Lighting.

How long is a license valid?

According to MADRIX, all licenses are valid without time limit.
